"So it's been a long ass run with this map. For a few months, every compile was showing worse and worse visual bugs, leaks, and the like. Finally I said "Fuck this shit; time for some better displacements!"
I spent around 30 minutes remaking all the islands and sea floor but as I go, I always have to tinker with the ground level to make things look more natural and smooth and such.
I made it all one big mesh, and not multiple displacements running into each other.
And amazingly, it has fixed all those really ugly ass visual errors I was encountering.
Hopefully you can get a sense of what the map looks like. If not, just wait until it's finished and you will see.
Anyway, the map is at 88%. What I need to add and fix is:
-Small visual bugs
-3Dskybox issue
-Map overview
-Environmental sounds
-Bomb site mechanics (Tons of outputs in each func_bombtarget. It gets hard to keep track of)
All this is small tinkering, so it will take at most a week. I don't know about updates in this thread. It's merely to take in constructive criticism and suggestions. I've worked on this long enough. I don't plan to do any big removes, replacements, or addings to the map.
